Hamlet

I apologize for not posting anything since June. Here's a drawing I did in the summer session at The Animation Academy in the narrative illustration class.

Alien

Here's an alien design I've been working on. It was one of the first times I used Photoshop only to rework a drawing. I'll take another pass at it with pencil. I added a head design because I couldn't stand looking at the rough.

To Be Reworked

I did this character lineup in November 2005. I'd like to see what I can do with them now. Stay tuned...

Coffee Shop Drawings

Here are some faces I sketched at the coffee shop this week. I'll be reworking Before And After 4's stance to make it more natural.

Before and After Part 4

Here's the fourth reworked image. For the most part, this was one was done in Photoshop using layers like markers.

Before and After 3

Here's the third one. I don't think I'll have time tonight to finish the last one. I should be able to get to it and post it by Monday.

Ogre Warrior

I designed this ogre in November 2006, and I have pushed off rendering it until now. The second one was done with marker and the third was done in Photoshop. I'll be visiting this piece again in the near future.

Before and After Part 2

Here's the 2nd installment. The next two should be up tomorrow afternoon.

Before and After

I went back to the drawings I did at the coffee shop and tried to rework each one individually. Here's the first reworked drawing. I put the initial and reworked drawing side by side to illustrate how much a difference can be made by taking more time to think and plan. I'm not completely happy with the drawing but I had to show my progress.

Apparel Reworked

Here are some minor changes I did in class.

Apparel

Here are my designs from this week's class. My next revision will make the faces less ambiguous.

1st Rough

In an effort to rework my drawings in a timely fashion, I'm going to start posting my roughs and go through the process. I figure it will force me to stay on task since everyone can see my progress. If any of the viewers comment on my mistakes before i can fix them, then I know I'll have to work even faster to get the revisions up. Anyway, here are my first set of drawings. Yesterday at the coffee shop, I was playing around with brown paper and marker to get myself away from the usual white paper.

More Perspective

The first drawing is a thumbnail I did in last week's class. My background design instructor, Robert, noticed I tend to render too early so I tried to take a step back and just work on the pencil lines on the second thumbnail.

Ogres

Here's a drawing I did while I was in the visual development class in December. In this piece, Charles asked me to draw female ogres preparing for dinner with an emphasis on the interaction between the characters. He told me to really push the simplicity of design of the ogres. After working out several thumbnail sketches and roughs, this is the picture I came up with.

Elves Reworked

I was unhappy with how the girls looked and tried to come up with solutions by flipping the drawing, reworking it first in blue pencil and then markers.

My First Post

Here's a drawing I did a couple weeks ago. The one point perspective version can be found at The Animation Academy's blog. Thanks again, Charles, for persuading me to put up my artwork.
